The snare wire for a 14 Inches w.f. ludwig concert snare drum with string mounting has 16 strands, an overall length of 14 5/8 Inches, and a strand length of 13 3/4 Inches (including the soldered area on each end-plate). One end plate has a centered 3/16 Inches hole for attachment of the snare wire unit to the strainer frame via a screws, while the other end plate has a more modern configuration for attachment via string or strap.
